Hoya carnosa compacta variegata, known as the variegated Hindu Rope plant, is one of the most coveted Hoyas for collectors. Its thick, crinkled leaves twist and fold along the vines like ropes, edged in creamy white and pink with green centers. Slow-growing but incredibly rewarding, it blooms fragrant, star-shaped flowers once established and looks stunning trailing from a shelf or hanging planter.

Care Guide

Place your Hoya in a spot with plenty of bright, indirect light; a few hours of gentle morning sun will deepen the variegation and encourage blooming. Water when the soil has mostly dried out, as the thick leaves store water and the plant tolerates some dryness. Use a well-draining, airy mix and a pot with drainage holes, and reduce watering during the cooler months. Avoid moving the plant or cutting off the long vines, as new growth and flower spurs emerge from them. Light feeding during the growing season supports blooming.
