Acacia arabica, commonly known as the Gum Arabic Tree or Babul Tree, is a hardy outdoor tree with fine foliage, a naturally spreading canopy, and a strong desert character. Its textured trunk and delicate leaves create an attractive feature for gardens, farms, boundaries, and larger landscape projects.
Well suited to Kuwait’s hot climate when planted outdoors in full sun, this resilient tree can provide filtered shade and develop into a strong, long-lived landscape tree. Plant it directly in the ground with enough room for the roots and canopy to grow.
Care Guide
Keep this tree outdoors in full sun with good airflow. Plant it in well-draining soil and avoid areas where water collects. Water deeply whenever the upper few centimetres of soil become dry. Young trees need regular watering while they establish, especially during Kuwait’s hottest months. Once established, Acacia arabica is drought-tolerant, but occasional deep watering supports healthier growth.
Apply mulch around the root zone to help retain moisture, keeping it away from the trunk. Feed lightly with a balanced slow-release fertiliser during the growing season if needed. Prune dead, damaged, or unwanted branches to maintain a strong shape, taking care around the tree’s thorns.
